Today, Lancaster County in Pennsylvania was the scene of the fourth, fatal school shooting (the 3rd in the US) in the past month. The girls in the class were singled out and bound in a one-room schoolhouse before a 32-year old milk man citing revenge for a 20-year old grudge let loose a barrage of gunfire on young children that were likely not even a thought in their parents’ minds when their killer ’was wronged’.
These killers, every one of them both young and old, are sick, sick people. I wish they had sought out and received help and treatment before their mental states ever degraded to this.
I don’t even have words.
The odd part about today? I spent most of this morning researching how to make old-fashioned apple butter the “Pennsylvania Dutch” way and later, in the natural food store, there was an Amish couple, the man with his long, flowing
beard and the woman in full garb with the gown and hat, looking to buy a cough decongestant for their
son. Not that I was eavesdropping–I wasn’t– but they were only standing 4 feet away.
My heart goes out to the families of the young victims who were shot to their death this morning and my prayers are with the injured and their loved ones in this stressful, heart-wrenching time. Don’t give up any of you.
I hope this one is the last.
