Oh, what crazy lives we lead!
I have been swamped at home and work for the last week and I have a feeling it’s only going to get busier… I haven’t sat down long enough to write about my own writing prompt so it’s going to have to be special… The days seem to blur into one.
My manager pulled me into her office on Friday afternoon to discuss the possibility of me moving into a full-time position with the department. It would be similar to the job I wanted and expected to get in April before the graduating students were told our unit didn’t have the budget for it. She said there is a 90% chance that I could be bridged in before summer is up. It would be fantastic, dispel the majority of my financial woes, and finally offer some job security.
But I’m not counting my chickens before they are hatched; I’ve already been disappointed twice this year!
I am, however, working my butt off to keep my stats and productivity up, which means I have little time for anything else.
Saturday, I cleaned most of the apt (the kitchen and entranceway are on hold) and did several loads of laundry. I went to Sacha’s house and we split 3 bottles of homemade white over a yummy BBQ dinner of chicken and spicy hot sausages from the local butcher. Then we hit up a few bars and clubs (even Maxwell’s — Lee’s favourite!
), despite the cold, rainy weather. I walked home 10 blocks in the pouring rain, chilled to the bone and looking like a drowned cat. I’m surprised I’m not coughing up a lung with pneumonia yet.
I slept until 3pm on Sunday, feeling all out of sorts and mucho hungover. I was on the phone for 5 hours last night, up til midnight so I could definitely do with a long nap, right about now.
Today’s featured event — we have a 2-hour celebration to kick off the start of this year’s annual National Public Service Week. Today is a huge party celebrating Aboriginal arts, dance and culture for this year’s theme of “Our People, Our Diversity, Our Future” including a free lunch of buffalo burgers, hamburgers, veggie burgers and wild rice salad. Yummy!
The next hour is going to drag on and on and on…
Yea, Sacha seems to do that quite often. Did she meet someone at Maxwell’s again? I hope it wasn’t Tin :-p
Tequila shooters kept me nice and warm in the rain for my night of clubbing.
Good luck with the full-time job, next time please call me when you’re walking home. I’ll feel safer knowing that you’re talking to someone while walking. I don’t care what time it is ok?? p.s. check out my blog for a recent update please!!
*hugs*
