Last night, I sat down to read Ellen Feldman’s The Boy Who Loved Anne Frank at 9:30 p.m. I thought I’d read a chapter or two, maybe three if I really got into it. Instead, I read straight through the night, finally falling into bed early into a new day. The book made my heart ache and my fan, working overtime to shrug off the muggy summer heat, didn't blow hard enough to dry the tears that pooled in the hollows underneath my eyes.
It’s a book about redemption, religion, the authenticity of personal memory, self-identity and re-invention, a fictional account blended with flashbacks of non-fiction detailing what could have had happened had Anne Frank’s Peter survived the Second World War and emigrated to America. I highly recommend it; definitely one of the best books I’ve read in a long time.
Can I borrow it?
Sorry for the unrelated comment;
I am looking for writers and readers opinions about blogging and the growing social input and collaboration that the web allows. There are a few initial questions in the blog post but any input would be great.
Please pass this on to anyone that you think might be interested.
