In school, my final marks are in: I averaged 85 on 6 courses (while working 20 hours a week) this 8th and final semester of my university degree. Marks don’t mean much to me lately—unless they are really bad—but I’m glad I improved my cumulative average enough to take a shot at a Master’s.
I’m considering it. Either work or more school in Ottawa or Montreal, if I absolutely have to move… As beautiful as Barrie is and as much as I miss home sometimes, I really don’t want to be forced to move back in with my parents’. I would have such a slim opportunity to work in my field, given the limited local French population.
The weekend was relatively low-key… Friday, Mel, Christiano, Tom & I went out for dinner at East Side Mario’s. The restaurant was busy and though I was uninspired by the overcooked pasta this “Italian” restaurant served, it was fun. The constant, endless rain all day put everyone in a somewhat off mood. We spent several hours at the midway; Mel and I played various games including riding a moving motorcycle that made me feel X-rated and decidedly over-the-hill, while the boys competed seriously in DDR. After the first hour, I’m afraid I wasn’t the best company because I have such a low boredom threshold and watching people play video games must be the most boring thing in the world. (I’m just guessing, I could be wrong.) But I did get my picture taken with a stranger so I’m checking that off the 101 things list!
Saturday, we were all planning to get together again but our wires got crossed. Sunday, I cleaned the apartment and did a ton of cooking. Was planning to make Austrian Jam Cookies for my Director General’s retirement party today but realized halfway through that while I had 4 different kinds of flour, I didn’t have enough all-purpose flour. So I had to switch the recipe using the base of creamed eggs and butter I’d already prepared, and turned it into a Sticky Apple & Molasses Cake, that was adapted beyond measure with rolled oats, whole wheat flour, Royal Gala apples, and molasses. It smells delicious but I actually don’t know if it will be edible. For dinner, I made a salad and a Creamy Asparagus & Ham Bake, using smoked ham to punch up the flavour of the spring asparagus.
By dinner, I was tired beyond belief, too tired to wash the dishes for the 3rd time that day and settled in to watch part 1 of 2 of the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. It’s on for another 2 hours tonight and I can’t wait!
Yup, watching other people play video games definitely ranks up there among the most boring things I can think of. Sorry about that. Next time we’ll do something that all of us can partake in.
Besides, I should really stay away from ITG for awhile. Apparently I’ve lost about 5 pounds in just the last week — and I want to GAIN weight, not lose it!
